May-May's Diary
Entry for May 27, 1999
Helloooo boys and girls!!!
Accessory stop
As I was walking the streets of the city the other day, enjoying the
approach of
summer, I came upon a lovely little ( and I mean tiny) shop on
Changshu Lu just opposite what was once Pasta Fresca, selling cool trinkets
and woven bags, and generally trendy personality filled accessories.
The best part however must be their excellent and reasonable prices and I
strongly
recommend that you check it out if you're in need of some new accessories
for the weekend
party.
Handbag heaven
Also on the shopping front, light pink and blue handbags are becoming
the rage. You can find them, as you can find just about anything
else in the fashion line, in the Huating Market, and in the handbag shops
on Shaanxi Nan Lu. If it's a bargain that you're looking for, I would go
to the Huating Market first, they seem to have almost everything you need
and
then some.
Quinn sayonara
Singer Quinn at the Cotton Club is leaving pretty soon at the end of
his stint in Shanghai. There is talk of a replacement coming from Texas
to play with guitarist Greg, who claims to have the lowest-temperature
personality around. My friends and I would like thank Quinn for a lot
of happy nights at the Cotton Club and may your replacement be as good
as you.
Short vs long
Fashion trend watch - for Shanghai girls, short hair is still very
much in, except for certain very defined market niches where the long
black hairstyle will always have a certain attraction. But for the guys,
it's moving in the opposite direction - a hairlength south of the collar is
getting
postively common even though the summer is here and the shorter hair would
be more convenient in the heat to come or?!.
Star Wars
NOT yet on the street are copies of the new Star Wars movie which
opened across the known universe on May 19. What's WRONG with our
Shanghai suppliers!! Come ON guys!!! How long shall we wait for the first
episode of this universal battle???
Byeeee!!!!!!!!
