Entry for November 12, 1998

George V on Urumqi Lu and only a stone's throw from the Lu of the moment, Hengshan Lu, is about to get new management. I understand a new man-mountain from Utah, a good friend of huggable Matthew Harding, has arrived in Shanghai to manage the bar, which has not yet fulfilled the promise it deserves based on the quality of its wood-carved interior.

His name is Chad, and he is a professional bar manager from Provo, which is a town somewhere near Salt Lake City of increasing musical / entertainment / nightlife fame.

I am told he wears the coolest pair of glasses in Asia. I can;t wait to meet him!!

Boys and girls, what a warm fall we're having in Shanghai!! It makes for pleasant days, but ruins the evenings. By this time of the year, I prefer to be snuggling, or doing something, under thick covers. It's just no fun.

I see Sean has left Park 97 and is now in charge of promoting the charms of 41 Hengshan Lu. It will not be difficult. It has the best location of any apartment block in town, and is particularly convenient for rich people who have a sudden attack of conscience and need a quick word with the Almighty over the road at the Community Church. I can't wait to get in to see the G's Club, which will presumably be ready for revels sooner rather than later. I've said that before, however.

My favorite singer in Shanghai, Pan Ruoyi, is performing three nights a week in the lobby of the Regal Hotel on Hengshan Lu, which is definitely the Lu to be on these days!! In fact, I apologise for calling it the regal Hotel. It should in fact be called the Regal East Asia International Hotel and Tennis Center. Forgive me, KK!!

Coco is back amongst us and says he is planning on staying in Shanghai for quite a while. "Europe sucks," he whispered to me. You can see him singing the Coco songbook, including all the great hits like Foggy Day, at Mr Stones on Hengshan Lu (there it is again!).

Boys and girls! I have received a couple of requests from my fans to consider a change of clothes in the rather coy picture of me at the top of this page.

I won't go into details of one of them as this is a family page. But James asks if I could change the color of my outfit.

Do you have any thoughts on what color I should wear??!!

Byeeeee!!!
