Album:Here Come the Elephants (1993)
Here Come the Elephants was recorded in Hong Kong in 1993, and includes some pretty sophisticated tunes, cimpared to my previous output. It represents the top of this early 1990s period of songwriting. Bird in a Cage was redone for the Leap of Faith album. Turn Out the Light, is my favorite instrumental, and features a wonderul harmonica solo by Dave Packer. It also reflects my love of a D-tuned acoustic guitar, and at that time of luscious deep reverb. The lyrics of Coco-Loco are good. Maybe a little too influenced by Steely Dan, but if you are going to be influenced, best to be influenced by the best.Let's Samba features percussion from my father, while on Sunshine I sing with my daughter Jennifer. The Elephants song features a whole bunch of kids and the growling guitar of Eugene Pao. Eugene is on all the songs, in fact. The desire to hear him play on my songs was one of my main reasons for writing themThe album was recorded in Mark-One studio, with the engineer Raymond Mak. Who emigrated to Canada and disappeared, along with most of his HK generation.
